Department of History

JSSP’S Arts, Commerce & Science College was established in 2004 and affiliated to the University of Mumbai . The subject history was being taught for F.Y, S.Y., B.A. from 2004 – 05. The Department of history has been established in the academic year 2016 – 17.
Activities
- History Study Circle - To develop the students interest in history the study circle also holds ” Seminar” on different subjects from time to time.
- Education Tour of History students to increase the interest of the students in this subject a tour is arranged every year

Eligibility
Eligibility for students to join B.A is to have Completed XII from any Stream but should have English subject in HSC. Students who have Passed their HSC in more than one attempt are also eligible for this Programme.
Admission Procedure
For First Year:
- Students should have passed the H.S.C. examination conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or any examination recognized as equivalent to H.S.C., for admission to B.A. Programme
Application for admission to the college must be made on the prescribed printed form. The form must be accompanied by :
- Leaving Certificate / Transfer Certificate and Original Marksheet of the last examination passed, with two true copies if coming from a college affiliated to the Mumbai University/Maharashtra Board.
- Transfer Certificate / Leaving Certificate, Migration Certificate, Marksheet Verification from Previous Board, and Mark Sheet of the last examination, with two true copies if coming from a college affiliated to any other Board / University.
- Two Passport Size Photographs.
Documents Requirement
For First Year Admission Along with Admission Form:
- Aadhar Card – 1 Photocopy
- SSC Marksheet – 2 Photocopies
- HSC Original Marksheet + 2 Photocopies
- HSC Original Leaving Certificate + 2 Photocopies
- Students who are passing as Private Candidates are required to attach Original Private Candidate Certificate + 2 attested Photocopies.
- If there is any gap in academic career, ‘Gap Certificate’ is required to be attached along with its Photocopy with admission form.
- Students passing H.S.C. examination from other than Maharashtra State are required to get Transfer Certificate and submit Original copy with Original H.S.C. Marksheet, Original Migration Certificate and their 2 attested Photocopies. Such students are required to do Marksheet Verification from previous Board.
For S.Y & T.Y Students from other colleges under University of Mumbai
- Original copy of No Objection Certificate from the college concerned along with its Photocopy & Transfer Certificate
- Last year’s Original Marksheet + 2 Attested Photocopies.
- If there is any gap in academic career ‘Gap Certificate’ is required to be attached along with its photocopy with the admission form.
For S.Y & T.Y Students from other University
- Original copy of Migration Certificate along with its Photocopy from concerned college, Transfer Certificate and Marksheet Verification.
Course Outcome
After completing the Bachelor of Arts degree, students are able to
- To acquired the knowledge with facts, fundamental concept and figures concerned with the subjects such as Marathi, Hindi, English, Economics, History and Politicalsciences.
- To understand the relationship between society, literature and reflection of Universal truths.
- To Grasp the importance literature in creating aesthetic, mental, moral, intellectual development of an individual and increasing a healthy society.
- To gain the analytical ability to analyze critically the literature and social issues, appreciate the strength and suggest the improvements for better results.
- To make learners sensitive about environment issues and sustainable development.
- To Develop various multiple communication skills such as reading, listing, writing, speaking etc., which will help in expressing ideas and views clearly and effectively.
- To appreciate world classics in the realm of British, American and Indian Literature
- To make the students to have better personality development, traits, responsible and dutiful citizen
