Motto


The Motto of NSS "Not Me But You", reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for self-less service. NSS helps the students development & appreciation to other person's point of view and also show consideration towards other living beings. The philosophy of the NSS is a good doctrine in this motto, which underlines on the belief that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of the society as a whole and therefore, the NSS volunteers shall strive for the well-being of the society.

Introduction


The National Service Scheme constituted under the aegis of "Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt. of India."​

Department of N.S.S is one of the largest and oldest departments in JSSP College Goveli .
Department of National Service Scheme (N.S.S) established in 2004 and affiliated to MumbaiUniversity, Mumbai.Department is always willful for encouraging and inculcating the socialculture by participating in social activities and providing guidance from basic to advance skillsto the volunteer in most of the students admitted in college. Our Volunteer college teamshave given remarkable performances in all the Activity of N.S.S. Mumbai UniversityActivity’s. Many students represented state and university level Camp. We conducted Monthlypractice sessions for the volunteer in sessions various activity such as leadership program,cleanliness activity. The college also organized many events “CAMP” WORKSHOP,SKILL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME etc. N.S.S. Department of our college is very reputedin the district due to its service & performance and because of this our college is the only choicefor the interested Social activity of the region.Department of National Service Scheme of our collegeis headed by Head of Sociology Department, Prof. Bhagyashree Pawar .Our college is bestchoice for the students/peoples not only for region but also for outside students, and provides bestperformance in academic and in Social as well. We believe in developing ‘Sound Mind in Sound Body’and overall personality development of the students.

The volunteers of NationalService Scheme have to be a regular activity of 120 hours in each year and a total of 240 hours on whole and they have to attempt One special camp out of two years of their volunteer ship to get the completion certificate of NSS.
120 Hours of regular activity is divided as follows in which Volunteer work -

  • Area based project 1 (40 Hours)
  • Area based project 2 ( 40 hours)
  • University level project (20 Hours)
  • College level project (20 Hours)

The National Service Scheme of the College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Goveli organized seven day Residential camp during the period 15/12/2015 to 21/12/2015 at Dahivali Post-Manivali Tal-Kalyan, Dist-Thane. National Service Scheme volunteers, in seven days of residential camp did cleaning of the village, survey, making of small roads, computer literacy activities, small road repair, public awareness programs on many social issues, learned how to make Best out of Waste, streetplay training program, How to start small scale business etc.

 
 

The National Service Scheme of the College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Goveli organized seven days residential camp during the period from 15/12/2016 to 21/12/2016 at Belpada Tal-Kalyan,Dist-Thane. National Service Scheme volunteers, in seven days of residential camp, did cleanliness of the village, survey, sex education, computer literacy activities, small road repair, public awareness programs on many social issues, construction of embankments, fire line, beautification of burning ground etc. these programs were implemented at Belpada village.
By the order of Mumbai university, This campaign was based on the concept of ‘Swachha Bharat Abhiyan’.Through this initiative, the cleaning of entire village was achieved.

 
 

The National Service Scheme of the College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Goveli organized seven days residential camp during the period from 24/12/2017 to 30/12/2017 at Belpada Tal-Kalyan, Dist-Thane. National Service Scheme volunteers, in these seven days of Residential Camp,Worked with the purpose of the entire cleaning of village on the insistence of forest officers for conservation of environment which was the prime focus of this drive.

 
 

The NSS department of Arts, Commerce, and Science college,Goveli hadorganised its first ever state level camp between 7th March to 13th March 2018 at Mhaskal. Tal:-Kalyan Dis:- Thanewhich is an adopted village by University of Mumbai. The main featureof this camp is that it was the first time state level camp in Thane district and our college received the privilege of beingthe host.
The main theme of this seven day Special Residential Camp was ‘YUVAKANNO KHEDYA KADE CHALA’

 
 

The NSS unit of Arts, Commerce and Science College, Goveli organiseda 7 Day District Level Resedential camp From 10th February 2016 to 16th February 2016 at Mhaskal village, Tal:- Kalyan, Dist :- Thane .
The main theme of this seven day District level Special Residential Camp was“SWACHHA BHARAT ABHIYAN”
In this 7 day Special Residential Camp, a lot of programs were implemented like cleaning of public toilets, digging of soak pits, village survey, gardening, creating awareness regarding cleanliness, school decoration, Street play on Social issues, Women empowerment, Road repairing, Health check up camp for villagers, Eradication of Superstition , Environmental Conservation , Best out of waste.

 
 

During 20th& 21st August, 2015, two-day District Level Disaster Management Camp was organized in Goveli College. 57 students from outside colleges participated in this camp & took the benefit of it. The program was inaugurated by the Mumbai University Program Co-ordinator Prof. B. S. Bidve sir. Also Thane District Co-ordinator Prof. JeevanVichare sir visited the camp and guided the students. Mr. PrashantKamble (Urban Conservation Force) gave training to the students.Volunteers learnt how to efficiently handle natural & manmade calamities. On the Concluding ceremony ofthisWorkshop, Mumbai University Co-ordinator Prof. AnisChaudhary Sir complimented the volunteers who participated in this workshop.

On 23rd June 2017 District level planning session was held in our college& was organized by our NSS unit. 75 program officers of Thane district had come for this session. Mr. B.S.Bidve sir University Program Coordinator guided everyone about the students’ funds and guided regarding the yearly based activities.

The NSS department has implemented a lot of programs from last three years under the Literacy Campaign. Our professors implemented many programmeslike English speaking and basic introduction to Computer in adopted village Masle- Belpada . Volunteers put great effort to make the village literate.

Apart from this, educational work done by our NSS unit can be seen in adopted village GoveliThakurpada. The NSS department encouraged village literacy & adopted a girl. Ms SeemaHindolesaid that there was not a single girl who went to take higher secondary education. The efforts of NSS department have proved to be a milestone and as a result almost all girls from this tribal village area are now receiving higher secondary education. Our NSS unit every year distributes educational stationary, notebooks, pens, pads, colours in order to encourage these tribal students. Many of the students who needed financial assistance were helped to seek jobs.

Our NSS department also participated in programs that checked the academic progress of school in Thane and contributed to a social cause

Goveli Thakurpada is a village situated 2 kms away from National Highway 222. Howeverthere is no concrete road made in this village even after the approval from GramPanchayat. It becomes really difficult to travel to and from GoveliThakurpada and keeping that in mind our volunteers helped repair andreconstruct the road.
