Department of English

The English department has been running actively since the establishment of JSSPs Arts, Commerce & Science college, Goveli.
The department is begun with the object in order to strengthen the students of semi-urban, far flung & outer part of Mumbai city.
It aims to enlighten the various abilities among students. To acquire knowledge of English language, to diagnose the weakness of speaking and writing English, to compare and illustrate linguistic components, to classify the elements of English language, to understand the meaning of prose, poetry, story and drama by reading. The English department is focused on attentively rural students & their unheard spoken skill.

- Essay Writing, Poetry Reading competitions and Elocution
- Celebrationg Birth anniversary of well know English literary like John Donne, William Shakespeare, William Wordsworth, P.B.Shelle and many more.

Eligibility
Eligibility for students to join B.A is to have Completed XII from any Stream but should have English subject in HSC. Students who have Passed their HSC in more than one attempt are also eligible for this Programme.
Admission Procedure
For First Year:
- Students should have passed the H.S.C. examination conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or any examination recognized as equivalent to H.S.C., for admission to B.A. Programme
Application for admission to the college must be made on the prescribed printed form. The form must be accompanied by :
- Leaving Certificate / Transfer Certificate and Original Marksheet of the last examination passed, with two true copies if coming from a college affiliated to the Mumbai University/Maharashtra Board.
- Transfer Certificate / Leaving Certificate, Migration Certificate, Marksheet Verification from Previous Board, and Mark Sheet of the last examination, with two true copies if coming from a college affiliated to any other Board / University.
- Two Passport Size Photographs.
Documents Requirement
For First Year Admission Along with Admission Form:
- Aadhar Card – 1 Photocopy
- SSC Marksheet – 2 Photocopies
- HSC Original Marksheet + 2 Photocopies
- HSC Original Leaving Certificate + 2 Photocopies
- Students who are passing as Private Candidates are required to attach Original Private Candidate Certificate + 2 attested Photocopies.
- If there is any gap in academic career, ‘Gap Certificate’ is required to be attached along with its Photocopy with admission form.
- Students passing H.S.C. examination from other than Maharashtra State are required to get Transfer Certificate and submit Original copy with Original H.S.C. Marksheet, Original Migration Certificate and their 2 attested Photocopies. Such students are required to do Marksheet Verification from previous Board.
For S.Y & T.Y Students from other colleges under University of Mumbai
- Original copy of No Objection Certificate from the college concerned along with its Photocopy & Transfer Certificate
- Last year’s Original Marksheet + 2 Attested Photocopies.
- If there is any gap in academic career ‘Gap Certificate’ is required to be attached along with its photocopy with the admission form.
For S.Y & T.Y Students from other University
- Original copy of Migration Certificate along with its Photocopy from concerned college, Transfer Certificate and Marksheet Verification.
